Nairobi police have arrested 14 school children in connection with the killing of a 15-year-old boy in Umoja, Nairobi.
The boy, identified as Joshua Kubiti, died after sustaining serious injuries during a violent clash involving teenage gangs. He was rushed to Radiant Hospital, where he succumbed.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives from Buruburu arrested 10 boys and 4 girls aged between 12 and 19 years during a crackdown targeting juvenile gangs operating in Umoja. The groups, with names such as Chinje, Mbogi, Bad Bunny, and Silent, have been linked to violent attacks, phone-snatching, theft and intimidation across Umoja I, II, III, Tena, Innercore, Kayole, Kariobangi and neighbouring estates.
The suspects were arraigned at Makadara Law Courts, where police secured orders to detain them for 14 days pending further investigations.
Authorities have warned that the gangs pose a growing threat to public safety, with police pledging sustained operations to dismantle them.
