14-YEAR-OLD BOY HOSPITALISED AFTER ASSAULT BY PRIEST IN BOMET

A 14-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after allegedly being assaulted by a Catholic priest in Bomet County.
The boy, identified as Brian, was reportedly attacked by Father John Paul, the head of St. Peter’s Catholic Church Mugango Parish, who is also a Grade 8 teacher at the parish school. Witnesses claim the priest struck the student on the head with a club and forcefully shaved his hair as punishment.
Brian’s father, Stephen Rono, said his son sustained injuries on the head and hands, with blood clots forming around his eyes. He was rushed to Chelimo Hospital, where medics confirmed he received first aid and is in stable condition.
A video showing the incident has since circulated online, sparking public outrage. Local police have confirmed investigations are underway, with the priest said to be missing.
The boy’s family has filed a formal complaint, demanding justice as authorities pursue the cleric.
