5 KILLED IN GRISLY ROAD CRASH ALONG NAKURU-NAIROBI HIGHWAY

Five people, including an infant, have died in a tragic road accident at Mbaruk area in Gilgil along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway, according to Nakuru County Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Ogolla.
The fatal crash occurred on the evening of Monday, August 4, when a Toyota Fielder reportedly attempted to overtake several vehicles. The vehicle collided head-on with a saloon car before crashing into a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.
“The Toyota Fielder lost control and hit the trailer, which caused a fire. All five occupants — two women, two men, and an infant — died on the spot,” said Ogolla.
The impact of the crash reduced the vehicle to a shell, with emergency responders facing challenges retrieving the bodies from the wreckage. The accident caused a temporary traffic snarl-up, but authorities managed to clear the scene, and normal flow has since resumed.
Police have urged motorists to observe traffic rules and exercise caution, particularly when overtaking along the busy highway.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
