BABU OWINO ACCUSES GOVERNMENT OF A DELIBERATE WITCH HUNT AGAINST HIM

Embakasi East Law Maker , Babu Owino Thursday has accused top officials in the government of orchestrating a well-coordinated witch hunt against him.

However, he didn’t give names but accused them of allegedly mobilizing state agencies to craft corruption allegations with the aim of damaging his political standing.

In a media briefing , the MP alleged that some officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) are part of this plot and are planning to raid his office at Greenspan Shopping Mall in Donholm, Nairobi.

Babu added that state operatives have constantly attempted to pressure him into complying with President William Ruto’s administration through both direct and indirect engagement, even offers of political accommodation but he has rejected their endeavours.

He, instead chose to remain committed to holding the government accountable on issues affecting Kenyans, such as the high cost of living, taxation policies, unemployment and the state of the healthcare sector.

“We know their plans and urge them to focus on issues affecting Kenyans,” he stated.
Owino confirmed that all projects assigned to him have been executed transparently and in strict adherence to procurement requirements, maintaining that no company linked to him has benefitted from the tenders of his constituency and that all contracts are allocated through proper channels.

The law maker has challenged the relevant authorities to inspect all projects under him, stating that his office remains open to such scrutiny but warned against politically instigated investigations.

He also advised EACC to uphold its independence and refrain from being involved in any form of partisan decisions, warning that any deviation from its legal mandate would compromise its credibility and expose it to pre-existing perceptions of external influence in politically motivated prosecutions and partial enforcement of anti-corruption measures.
