Prominent Uasin Gishu businessman Zedekiah Bundotich Kiprop, popularly known as Buzeki, has officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Buzeki, the founder of Buzeki Group and one of the region’s most prominent entrepreneurs, is expected to challenge incumbent Governor Jonathan Chelilim in the next election. His entry into UDA marks a major political shift, as he had previously distanced himself from the ruling party, citing concerns over unfair nomination processes.
The businessman, who made headlines in 2013 after selling his dairy business to Brookside and was later listed by Forbes among Kenya’s wealthiest young billionaires, now steps into the political arena under the UDA banner.
Political analysts say his decision could significantly reshape Uasin Gishu politics, given his financial clout and influence among voters.
UDA officials have yet to issue a formal statement on his membership, but the move has already sparked mixed reactions among political observers and residents of the Rift Valley county.
