Police Officer Klinzy Barasa Masinde, accused of killing mask vendor, Boniface Kariuki, has been charged with murder by the Director of Public Prosecution ( DPP) .
Barasa and Colleague, Duncan Kiprono were initially arrested following a video showing them harassing an unarmed mask vendor and one was captured firing at him. The duo afterwards exited leaving Boniface Kariuki lying helplessly along Moi Avenue.
Boniface was later rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital were he was declared brain dead — four bullet fragments lodged in his brain – the doctors managed to remove two fragments but he could not manage to keep alive.
The incident sparked an uproar from Kenyans to leaders causing the intelligence forces to interdict the two suspects.
Photos circulating online showed Barasa in court , seemingly shedding tears and resentful over the occurrence.
The DPP had confirmed that Barasa will be arraigned in court on Friday under grounds of murder , before High Court Judge Justice Kimondo.
However , his other counterpart, Duncan Kiprono was exonerated following a lack of sufficient evidence proving his direct involvement in the murder.
