Court Fines Kibra MP Orero’s Driver Ksh.100,000 for Defying Traffic Rules

A Nairobi court has fined the driver of Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero Ksh.100,000 after he was found guilty of obstructing traffic and ignoring police directives.

According to police reports, the driver was apprehended earlier this week after blocking a busy section of the road in the city while attempting to bypass heavy traffic. Officers at the scene noted that the driver defied multiple orders to clear the way, resulting in a traffic snarl-up.

He appeared before a Nairobi magistrate and pleaded guilty to the offense. The court imposed a Ksh.100,000 fine, with an alternative of six months in jail if he fails to pay.

The incident has reignited public concern over the conduct of drivers working for high-ranking officials, who are often accused of violating traffic laws with impunity. Many Kenyans have taken to social media urging leaders to ensure their staff set a positive example on the roads.

While MP Orero has yet to comment on the matter, authorities reiterated that no one is above the law, emphasizing the need for discipline and accountability among all road users.
