COURT ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR MP GEORGE KOIMBURI AND TWO OTHERS

A Nairobi court has issued an arrest warrant for Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi and two others, Peter Kiratu Muhia and David Macharia Gatana, after they failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing at the Milimani Law Courts.
The three are facing charges of defeating justice and providing false information to authorities in relation to an alleged abduction incident. According to court records, the accused were to respond to claims of orchestrating and misleading the police over what is now suspected to have been a staged kidnapping.
The prosecution alleges that Koimburi and his co-accused falsely reported the abduction in an attempt to obstruct ongoing investigations. Detectives had previously been granted access to the MP’s medical records following his report that he was abducted and later found injured on May 26, 2025, in a coffee plantation.
This is not the first time Koimburi has faced legal trouble. In February 2025, he was arraigned in court over forgery of academic documents, including a KCSE certificate allegedly from KNEC and degree certificates purportedly from JKUAT. He denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 200,000.
The court has now directed that the MP and his co-accused be arrested and presented in court without delay. The case is expected to resume once the accused are in custody.
