CS RUKU DISMISSES RIGGING CLAIMS, TOUTS DEVELOPMENT AS RUTO’S RE-ELECTION STRATEGY

Public service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has dismissed claims of a rigging plot ahead of the 2027 General Election, terming them unfounded and politically motivated.
Speaking during a development tour in Taita Taveta County, Ruku said President William Ruto’s administration is focused on delivering development through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which he termed the ruling coalition’s most potent re-election strategy.
“We do not need to rig the election. The President is working for the people. Development is our campaign,” said Ruku.
He highlighted several key projects being implemented in the region, including a Ksh 3 billion investment across various sectors such as infrastructure, education, housing, energy, and market modernization.
Major road projects like the 70-kilometre Elasit–Njukini–Taveta road and the 58-kilometre Mtomwagodi–Bare–Idage–Bura road are currently underway. The Affordable Housing Programme has also received Ksh 2 billion, while Taita Taveta University has been allocated Ksh 750 million for the construction of 1,700 hostel units.
In the education sector, 58 classrooms have been constructed across 68 schools to support the CBC transition. Rural electrification efforts, under REREC, have received Ksh 260 million, while the Matunge Market modernization project is nearly complete at 90 percent.
Ruku urged the opposition to stop spreading rigging narratives and instead focus on issue-based politics, insisting that service delivery will be President Ruto’s strongest card in the 2027 polls.
