DCI STILL ANALYZING EVIDENCE IN JUJA MP GEORGE KOIMBURI’S ABDUCTION CASE

The investigation into the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi remains ongoing, the Milimani Law Courts heard on Tuesday August 5, 2025. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is still analyzing mobile phones and other electronic devices seized from the suspects. Appearing before Magistrate Mark Ekhubi, the prosecution stated that the devices had been submitted to the DCI headquarters and forensic laboratory, where data extraction is still in progress. The full analysis is expected to take up to 21 days. “The electronic devices were taken to the DCI forensic labs, and extraction is ongoing. We anticipate completing the process and releasing the items within 21 days,” the prosecution told the court.

The five accused MP George Koimburi, Peter Kiratu, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Kieru Muhia, and Murang’a MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu were present in court, each represented by their lawyers. The defense confirmed partial receipt of the prosecution’s evidence and agreed to the proposed 21-day timeline for full disclosure of the remaining materials. Additionally, the court was informed that both parties had reached an agreement regarding the release of vehicles seized during the investigation. The vehicle will be returned within seven days unless the investigating officers raise objections. Magistrate Ekhubi commended the cooperation between the prosecution and defense, noting that it was facilitating the smooth progress of the case.

He scheduled the next mention for September 10, 2025, to review the status of evidence disclosure and the return of the electronic devices and vehicles. The case stems from a May 25, 2025, incident in which MP Koimburi was reported missing shortly after attending a church service. Footage later surfaced showing him being bundled into a vehicle. He was subsequently located and taken to Karen Hospital, where he has been under medical care.
