DETAILS OF DOHA'S EMERGENCY ARAB ISLAMIC SUMMIT

Doha hosted an Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in response to the recent Israeli aggression against Qatar on Monday, 15, 2025.
In a statement on September 16, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari described the summit as a historic event that reflected Gulf, Arab, and Islamic unity.
He said Arab and Muslim leaders had gathered in Doha to deliver a unified and strong stance against the attack, stressing that targeting the sovereignty of a UN member state constituted a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to international peace and security.
Al Ansari added that the summits were not merely emergency meetings, but a clear message to the world that Arab and Islamic countries reject aggression, uphold justice, and remain committed to the Palestinian cause.
The GCC countries, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, have formed a defence pact to address the security concerns of the member states.
The Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) vow to “activate a joint defence mechanism” stood out as the most concrete outcome of the summit, which was opened by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who denounced the Israeli bombing as “blatant, and treacherous.”
“My country’s capital was subjected to a treacherous attack targeting a residence housing the families of Hamas leaders and their negotiating delegation,” Sheikh Tamim said.
The statements issued during the summit categorically condemned the Israeli assault, dismissed its justifications as invalid under international law, and outlined measures to strengthen coordination and joint Arab action.
“The joint statement obviously called for a meeting of the high command to be held here in Doha to discuss further steps to ensure that the safety and the joint security of the GCC countries is addressed,” Al-Ansari said.
Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, stated that Gulf leaders reaffirmed the indivisibility of the security of GCC states, warning that any attack on one member constitutes an attack on all.
He revealed that the GCC Joint Defence Council would convene urgently in Doha to assess security threats and affirmed that all Council capabilities would be mobilized to safeguard Qatar’s sovereignty.
