DON'T VOTE FOR PAUL BIYA- BRENDA BIYA URGES CAMEROONIANS

Brenda Biya, the daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving president Paul Biya, has openly called on citizens not to re-elect her father in the October 2025 presidential polls.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session, Brenda — widely known online as “King Nasty” — accused the 92-year-old leader of plunging the country into “poverty, unemployment, and decades of stagnation.”

Her remarks mark a historic moment in African politics, as it is the first time a sitting president’s child has openly opposed their parent’s rule.

President Biya has been in power since 1982, making him one of the world’s longest-serving leaders and the oldest head of state still in office. His rule has for years drawn criticism over authoritarian practices, corruption, human rights abuses, and disputed elections.

Expected to step down , Biya , who had gone for months of political exile , showed up in July making a surprising announcement seeking an eighth term in the October 12 election, declaring his candidacy on his official X account in both French and English.

“I am a candidate for the 12 October 2025 presidential election,” he said. “Rest assured that my determination to serve you is commensurate with the serious challenges facing us. Together, there are no challenges we cannot meet. The best is still to come.”

In his official statement, titled ‘Declaration of Candidacy for the 12 October 2025 Presidential Election by His Excellency Paul BIYA’, the president stressed his commitment to national security and unity.

“Ensuring the security and well-being of the sons and daughters of our beloved and beautiful country is the sacred duty to which I have devoted my time and energy since assuming the helm of State,” he wrote.

“However, much remains to be done. In the face of an increasingly difficult international environment, the challenges facing us are more and more pressing. In such a situation, I cannot shirk my mission. I have therefore decided to heed the numerous and insistent calls from the ten regions of our country and from the diaspora.”

While Biya insists “the best is still to come,” his daughter’s bold criticism has added an unprecedented twist to Cameroon’s political landscape just weeks before the vote.
