The Democratic Republic of Congo’s national team has arrived in Nairobi ahead of their highly anticipated African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 Group A opener against hosts Kenya, the Harambee Stars.
The Leopards A’ squad jetted into the country on Thursday, July 31, 2025, after completing a preparatory friendly match in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The team had faced South Sudan’s Jamus SC earlier in the week as part of their final preparations.
DR Congo, two-time CHAN champions, are set to face Kenya on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM EAT.
Their early arrival is seen as a strategic move to allow the squad time to acclimatize to the Kenyan environment and finalize their tactical approach under the watch of head coach Otis Ngoma.
This Group A encounter marks a historic moment for the Harambee Stars, who are making their CHAN debut on home soil. With passionate home support expected, Kenya hopes to make a strong start against one of the tournament’s most successful sides.
The CHAN 2024 tournament, which features national teams made up exclusively of players active in their domestic leagues, promises thrilling encounters as teams battle for continental glory.
