DUALE UNDER FIRE AS IMPEACHMENT LOOMS

The fate of CS Health Aden Duale hangs in the balance after a section of legislators under the newly formed Kenya Moja call for his impeachment over alleged fraud at the Social Health Authority (SHA), where billions were reportedly siphoned through ghost facilities and fake claims.

The MPs converged in Funyula, Busia county , under the banner of “Kikao na Vijana,” drawing a host of influential figures from the youthful Kenya Moja coalition, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and host MP Willy Mbogo.

Addressing the crowd on Sunday 31, Sifuna , who doubles as ODM's Secretary General urged the MPs to use the power vested upon them to oust Duale.

"Sisi tunataka tumwambie vile wabunge wamesema hapa, sisi kwenye Senate hatuna nguvu za kumtoa. Lakini tunataka kuwashinikiza ni nyinyi ambao mko kwa National Assembly," which loosely translates as ; We want to say what MPs here have agreed, in the Senate we lack the power to remove him, but we want to push those in the National Assembly to act.

He further added,
“The signatures are ready. Once Parliament is back from recess, ensure the motion is brought to the floor.”
And he emphasized the injustice:
“It takes mothers weeks to raise Ksh 500 or Ksh 1,000, yet people in Nairobi are sitting at computers entering fake claims of thousands. Is that fair?”

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also decried of the economic hardships experienced by the youths in the country.

Wamuchomba following suit criticised President Ruto's administration, particularly CS Duale accusing him of presiding over a corruption infested docket.

Amisi further poked holes into the broad-based outfit, indicting President Ruto of using Raila's track record as a smoke screen for his inadequacies.

Meanwhile, John Mbadi the CS for finance, while in a separate event , defended his health counterpart charging him to keep strong and firm.

The Kenya Moja wave has unleashed a circle of vibrant leaders declaring an anti-Ruto stance. The lingering question, however, is whether this momentum can withstand the strong forces of government that shield Ruto’s bulldozer minister and ultimately push through an impeachment.
