FBI Queens Reject Militia Label, Say They Stand for Justice

The Fighting Impunity and Brutality (FBI) Queens have dismissed claims of being a militia group, saying they are a civic movement advocating for accountability. The group accused the state of abetting police brutality, extrajudicial killings, and the harassment of young people during protests.

The comments came after the arrest of the group’s leader Patrick Osoi and several members, who were charged over alleged militia links. Authorities pointed to viral videos of men in combat gear, but the movement insists it is peaceful.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, Osoi said the FBI Queens would not keep silent as unlawful killings continue in the country.
“We will not stay silent while rogue police officers are given the power to kill our children in cold blood,” Osoi said.

He added that the movement was driven by a duty to safeguard life and to resist impunity.
“The real threat is silence. The real crime is indifference,” he said.

Member Esther Njue said the Queens represent women committed to confronting injustice and protecting communities.
“We are not a militia. We are not terrorists. We are not criminals. We are Fearless, Bold, Independent women — mothers, sisters, daughters, leaders — standing against injustice and demanding accountability,” Njue said.

She criticized the government for offering payouts to families instead of preventing killings.
“We say no to a system that tries to put a price on our children’s lives — offering compensation after the murder, instead of justice before the bullet,” she said.

Grace Wangari highlighted the plight of young demonstrators, saying many have been unfairly criminalized for protesting.
“Our youth aged 17 to 22 are arrested, beaten, and labeled as terrorists simply because they raised their voices and exercised their constitutional right to demonstrate,” Wangari said.

Osoi insisted the FBI Queens are committed to peaceful change and community healing.
“We are not here to destroy. We are here to build, to heal, and to demand what is right,” he said.

He maintained that the movement would not relent in demanding justice.
“We are not your enemy. But we are the storm that injustice should fear,” Osoi said.
