FIREWORKS IN EMBU: DP KINDIKI BLASTS CS RUKU OVER ROAD APPEAL

Embu, Kenya – A public fallout between Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku on Sunday stirred political tension in Embu after the DP slammed the CS for “inciting the public” over stalled road projects.

The confrontation occurred during a high-profile meeting with over 5,000 elders, where Ruku appealed for the tarmacking of roads in Siakago. His remarks, made in the presence of the DP, were met with a sharp rebuke.

“You are now part of the Cabinet,” Kindiki fired back. “You should not be inciting the public with complaints. Instead, provide solutions within Cabinet—the top decision-making organ of government.”

Kindiki reminded Ruku of the responsibility that comes with his new role, urging him to act with decorum and respect the trust placed in him by President William Ruto.

“The President entrusted you with that flag. Respect it. It’s not just a piece of cloth,” Kindiki said in a pointed warning.

The exchange revealed cracks within the executive, raising eyebrows over the unity of President Ruto’s inner circle, especially on matters of regional development and public messaging.

Earlier, Kindiki visited Meru County for a church service, where he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to grassroots development, citing the rollout of 400 modern markets—14 of which are in Meru.

He later travelled to Kiambu County, meeting boda boda riders and mama mboga traders in Ndumberi, where he urged continued support for the Kenya Kwanza administration.
