FORMER MP AND UN ENVOY BOB FRANCIS JALANG’O NYANDUGA DIES

Bob Francis Jalang’o Nyanduga, a former Rarieda Member of Parliament and Kenya’s ex-Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome, has passed away. His death was confirmed on Thursday, July 17, 2025 by Rarieda MP Dr. Otiende Amollo.
Nyanduga, who served as the inaugural MP for Rarieda from 1988 to 1992, was a respected statesman and diplomat. He later represented Kenya as ambassador to Italy, Greece, and Poland, and served at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
During his diplomatic tenure, he held key leadership roles including Vice-Chair of the African Group of Ambassadors to the Rome-based UN agencies and Chair of the Candidatures Committee in 2000.
In a statement, MP Amollo mourned Nyanduga as a trailblazer who laid the foundation for Rarieda’s political leadership. “His commitment to service and humility inspired many. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire Rarieda community,” Amollo said.
Nyanduga held a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from Makerere University and had a background in computing and the petroleum industry, having worked with Caltex Oil and Business Machines Limited.
Tributes have poured in on social media, with many remembering his frequent school visits and grounded leadership style. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
