FREEMASONIC LODGE MOURNS THE POPE

The Freemasonic Lodge , based in Italy has mourned Pope Francis’ terming his work as “deeply resonant with the principles of Freemasonry."

In a statement on Tuesday, 22 April, Luciano Romoli, Grand Master of the Great Lodge of Italy of the A.L.A.M , hailed the Pope of his teachings which related with the universal standards of the Lodge .

“The Grand Lodge of Italy of the ALAM joins in the universal mourning for the passing of Pope Francis, a pastor who, through his teachings and his life, embodied the values of brotherhood, humility, and the pursuit of a universal humanism,” wrote Luciano Romoli.

The Grand Master continued attributing the late Pope as an ambassador of freedom, equality, and fraternity, the three core values of Freemasonry.

“Overcoming divisions, ideologies, and groupthink in order to recognize the richness of differences and build a humanity united in diversity: this was Francis’s ardent desire, and the same goal is pursued by the Grand Lodge of Italy."

Romoli also echoed that Pope Francis had a "faith capable of questioning itself, of accepting doubt and of dialogue, which we also find in the Masonic initiatory method, based on a path free from dogma, substantiated by the unceasing search for truth.”

Since, his elections into Papacy, the Italian Freemasonic framework weighed Francis as different from his predecessors, who held a conflicting view on Freemasonry.

For example, the 1738 , Pope Clement XII’s papal bull In eminenti termed such groups as cultic and satanic dismissing any possible coalition with them. Ever since, this had been Catholic's guide in relation to Freemasonry. But, Pope Francis brought a new perspective of this, as Luciano addresses.
