GACHAGUA DISMISSES RUTO'S CLAIMS ON THE 10B TERMING HIM AS LIAR

Gachagua, a statement shared on his X account on Monday, March 31, just after Ruto's interview at Sagana State Lodge, dismissed allegations that he demanded a 10 billion sum to drum up support for the president in the Mt Kenya region.

The former DP also accused the President of allegedly lying to Kenyans about the cause of his impeachment by the Mps

He added that , the lies by President Ruto is a grand threat to Kenyans and are evidence of Ruto's failed leadership.

"The greatest existential threat to our beloved country is outright lying to the people of Kenya without blinking, and failure by a leader to put his team together to harmonise their lies. I weep for my Country, Kenya," Gachagua tweeted.

This response comes barely an hour after the head of state addressed reasons behind the impeachment of the former DP.

During this interview with journalists in Nyeri County, Ruto revealed that Gachagua's was constantly at logger heads with key government officials, including blogger Dennis Itumbi and MPs Ndindi Nyoro and Kimani Ichung'wah, laying the red carpet for his ouster.

Ruto revealed that he tried mediating these misunderstandings but, his deputy was reluctant to change, this escalated hostilities between him and the MPs led to his impeachment from his post as deputy president.

Additionally, Ruto opened up that his former deputy also demanded Ksh10 billion or he would make him a one-term president if he failed to disburse the amount.

“I asked him, ‘Why are you fighting with Itumbi, my PA Farouk, and these young leaders? What’s the need for such small battles?’” Ruto stated.

"Gachagua told me that I would be a one-term President if I did not meet certain conditions. He asked for Ksh 10 billion to talk to the Mt Kenya region. I told him I would not do it. I told him if it's one term, it's okay if you're the one to decide. So the MPs started a war,'' he added.

This is the first time the head of state is addressing this matter since Gachagua's impeachment in October 2024 by the Senators on grounds of ; abuse of office and tribalism. Gachagua became the first deputy president to be impeached since the promulgation of the August 2010 Constitution.
