Gernacho's Salary Demands Kill Napoli Move

Napoli FC management has laid the blame on Gernacho for failed transfer in January, saying that the Manchester United winger asked for too much money.
In accordance with a statement issued by Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna, it was Gernacho's lofty salary demands that killed the transfer.
“We made an important bid to Manchester United for Garnacho. We really wanted him,” Manna said.
“We weren’t able to agree on personal terms with Alejandro, he requested an important salary to leave in January and we must respect our players.”
The Italian side were locked in negotiations with Garnacho for over a period of two weeks during the January transfer window.Garnacho had been Napoli’s number one target to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after the Georgian star joined PSG. It had been widely reported that the reason why Garnacho’s transfer fell through was because Napoli couldn’t agree a transfer fee with United, since Napoli would go no higher than €55m for the Argentine, with United demanding over €70m, which turned out untrue.
Napoli subsequently signed AC Milan's Noah Okafor on loan on Deadline Day, with manager Antonio Conte said to be very unhappy with the club's failure to bring in a top-class replacement for Kvaratskhelia.
