GOVERNMENT ORDERS IMMEDIATE REGISTRATION OF AMBULANCE, EMERGENCY CARE PROVIDERS

The government has directed all ambulance operators and emergency care providers across the country to register with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) by September 15, 2025.
In a notice issued by KMPDC, the directive applies to all ambulances—whether privately or publicly owned—as well as paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), ambulance operators, and other pre-hospital care workers.
The council said the exercise is anchored in the Health Act, 2017 and the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act (Cap 253), and is aimed at standardizing emergency medical services and improving the quality of pre-hospital healthcare across the country.
“The registration will support the operationalization of the Social Health Authority’s Emergency, Critical Care, and Chronic Illness Fund while ensuring Kenyans access safe and quality emergency services,” the council noted.
Applicants have been asked to submit their registration forms either through email to [email protected] or physically at the KMPDC offices. Forms and detailed requirements are available on the council’s official website.
KMPDC further warned that any individual or organization that fails to comply with the directive will face sanctions, including being barred from operating ambulances or offering emergency medical services.
