"ICHUNG’WAH: MBADI DRILLING HOLES IN RUTO’S EDUCATION SHIP"

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has hit out at Finance Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, accusing him of failing to consult President William Ruto over recent remarks on the sustainability of the free education programme.

Ichung’wah said Mbadi’s comments on the financial strain posed by the initiative were not only misleading but also undermined the president’s firm stance that education is a fundamental right for every Kenyan child.

“The president has been clear — education is not negotiable. It is a right, not a privilege,” Ichung’wah asserted. “Some people are busy trying to drill holes in the ship so they can jump off and leave others to sink. It’s calculated, selfish, and reeks of political conmanship.”

The Majority Leader accused Mbadi of engaging in diversionary tactics and warned against what he termed "a growing trend of technocrats using political theatrics to dodge responsibility."

His remarks come amid rising concerns about government funding for basic education, with parents and education stakeholders seeking clarity on the future of the free education programme.
