IEBC ASSURES POLL READINESS

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon has stated that money has been allocated from the National Treasury for the by-elections to be held on November 27, 2025.
Speaking at a consultative forum of 91 political parties' delegates at Maanzoni Lodge in Mthe achakos County, Ethekon assured Kenyans that his commission was ready to conduct the mini polls and preparations were underway in earnest to deliver the exercise.

"We would like to assure the country and the people of this beautiful republic of Kenya that all arrangements are in high gear and the resources which we were lacking in order to have a successful by elections are now with us," he stated.
"Where we had shortfalls we've had very open and honest and fruitful discussions with our national treasury who have since then opened that and therefore there is absolutely no reason at all why we should not have the by elections as planned."
IEBC, registrar of political parties and political parties liaison committee pledged to work with one another by inking an MOU that will guide the joint engagement and consultation forums ahead of the by-elections scheduled for November.

"Also I would like to inform the nation that we've had this morning up to this afternoon a very fruitful engagement with our political parties through the political party liaisons on the committee platform in liaison with the office of Registrar of the Political Parties (and as I earlier tripatised) group," he added.

"We have discussed a range of issues on our state of preparedness not only for 2027 general election but also for the by-elections and the voter registration exercise and campaign that we are launching next week starting Monday, September 29."
