The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the official campaign period for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025.
In a notice released on Wednesday 3, 2025, the commission said campaigns will run from October 8 to November 24, 2025, ending 48 hours before election day. Campaigns will be allowed daily between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
IEBC further directed political parties to submit the names of their authorized officials and dates of party primaries by September 17, 2025. Independent candidates are also required to submit their names and symbols by the same deadline.
Election agents are expected to be appointed and submitted to the commission by November 11, 2025.
The electoral body explained that while the Constitution ordinarily requires by-elections to be held within 90 days of a vacancy, logistical factors—including the school calendar since most polling stations are located in schools—necessitated a later date.
The November 27 polls will fill vacant positions in various constituencies and wards across the country.
