IG KANJA CONFIRMS SAMIDOH’S RESIGNATION FROM POLICE SERVICE

Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja has officially confirmed the resignation of Mugithi star Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, from the National Police Service (NPS).
Speaking on Wednesday August 20, 2025, Kanja said Samidoh’s resignation took effect on July 20, 2025, bringing an end to his 12-year career in the service. The IG maintained that the singer is now free to pursue his music and other personal interests.
“He is free to do the things he wishes to do,” Kanja stated.
Samidoh’s departure follows months of tension with the police service. He had been transferred to a different station after a viral performance featuring a politically charged chant, an incident that drew sharp criticism. Shortly afterward, he was accused of desertion for failing to report to his new posting.
The matter escalated to the courts, with Samidoh securing anticipatory bail and being ordered to surrender his passport. His resignation, however, has now halted all pending disciplinary and legal proceedings.
The 34-year-old artist has previously balanced his duties as an officer with a thriving music career that has seen him become one of Kenya’s most celebrated Mugithi performers. His exit from the service is expected to allow him to focus fully on his artistic journey.
