I'll LEAD THE MOUNTAIN FROM KAMITI - GACHAGUA

The June 25 protests saw widespread destruction of property, injuries, and fatalities reported across the country. An infuriated government, led by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, termed the chaos an attempted coup—allegedly sponsored by the opposition, chiefly the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Kikuyu lawmaker and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah accused Gachagua of hiring goons to destroy his property in Kikuyu and attempt an attack on his parents.

In a sharp rejoinder, the former second-in-command dared the government to arrest him—if there is credible evidence linking him to the unrest.

“If I truly financed goons, if I am responsible for that chaos, why haven’t they arrested me?”

“If there was intelligence that Gachagua sponsored thugs, what are the police waiting for? Arrest me!”

As investigations into the Wednesday protests continue, intelligence agencies are pursuing suspects alleged to have infiltrated the demonstrations with hired goons.

However, public speculation has increasingly painted Gachagua as a person of interest in the ongoing probe—a development that suggests his arrest may be imminent.

Speaking on Tuesday, July 2, Gachagua reiterated his unwavering support for the Mount Kenya bloc, boldly positioning himself as the region’s tribal leader.

The outspoken ‘Wamunyoro’ further challenged the government to arrest him, insisting that even incarceration wouldn’t stop him from leading his people.

“I’ll lead them from Kamiti Prison.”

“Even if I’m arrested and imprisoned, I will still be the kingpin of the Mt. Kenya region, giving instructions from inside," he added positioning himself as the region's agenda setter.
