JKIA PASSENGERS GIVEN WAY FORWARD AFTER FIRE ALARM SCARE

Operations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have returned to normal after a fire alarm triggered panic and temporary evacuation at Terminal 1C on Sunday July 20, 2025.
According to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the alarm went off multiple times at around 2:55 p.m., prompting immediate action by the Fire and Rescue team. Though no fire, injuries, or property damage were reported, the terminal was temporarily evacuated as a precautionary measure.
"The alarm system was deactivated to prevent further disruption while investigations were launched to determine the cause. We later confirmed it was a false alarm, likely due to a system or sensor fault," said KAA in an official statement.
In response, passengers and operations from Terminal 1C were swiftly redirected to Terminals 1A and 1B, ensuring no flight cancellations or delays occurred.
Later in the evening, Terminal 1C was declared safe and fully reopened to the public. KAA has urged passengers to confirm terminal details with their respective airlines and reassured the public of their commitment to safety and efficient service.
Investigations into the cause of the false alarm are ongoing.
