The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of businessman Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo, who operates the LetaPeleka Logistics business within the Nairobi CBD. His arrest follows the circulation of a viral TikTok video in which he is accused of inciting violence against police officers and their families.
In a statement issued by the DCI in the wee hours of Thursday, July 10, 2025, the authorities confirmed that Maiyo was traced to a discreet office located within Kimathi House in Nairobi, where he was operating his business from.
The DCI said that Maiyo was apprehended after thorough surveillance and is currently in custody as investigations continue, pending his arraignment in court.
“Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo, the suspect behind a viral video inciting violence against police officers and their families, has been arrested. The video had been uploaded to his TikTok account. Detectives trailed the suspect to Kimathi House, where he was operating a discreet office under the name LetaPeleka Logistics. He is currently in custody undergoing processing, pending arraignment,” the DCI stated.
The DCI statement comes hours after reports went viral on social media that Maiyo had been picked up from his office by plainclothes officers who arrived in two Subarus. A video that has been doing the rounds on X shows the said officers manhandling Maiyo, who could be heard lamenting why they were forcing him out of his office.
The officers are said to have stated that they were taking him to the Capitol Hill Police Station, but did not indicate the reason for his arrest. A section of Kenyans calling for his release online argue that his family has not been able to trace him at the Capitol Hill Police Station, as indicated by the officers who picked him up.
