KENYAN STUDENT DIES ABROAD AFTER GRADUATING FROM RUSSIAN MEDICAL SCHOOL

A family has been thrown into mourning following the heartbreaking news concerning their loved one. Mahamud Hassan tragically met his untimely death while abroad, where he had travelled for further studies. The young man had been studying medicine in Russia and had just graduated, preparing to return home.
Abdikarim Osman Mohamed broke the news, sharing that the family was mourning not one, but two loved ones.
"Earlier today, we lost my beloved ayeeyo, Isnino Abdille, the sister to my paternal grandmother. Ayeeyo Isnino was a woman of deep faith, gentle spirit, and unwavering love. She carried herself with quiet dignity and left behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that shaped generations. Her passing leaves a void that words cannot fill. It is also with profound grief that I have received the devastating news of the death of my cousin, Dr. Mohamud Dagane, who passed away in Russia, just as we were preparing to welcome him back home after completing his medical studies,” he shared. He added that Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Defence in Kenya, Aden Duale, "is currently making arrangements to bring Dr. Mahamud’s body home for burial".
Before his untimely demise, Mahamud had penned a heartfelt message following his graduation, expressing deep appreciation for his family’s support. His message reflected on the long and challenging road he had taken and the people who helped him along the way.
“This moment has been years in the making. As I reflect on the path that brought me here, I can’t help but remember how far I’ve come. As an international student far from home, I stepped into a world of unfamiliar faces, a cold climate, and the absence of family by my side. I faced moments of deep loneliness, but within those moments, I found strength I never knew I had. I found purpose.The world paused, classrooms closed, and isolation became the norm. But it was in that stillness that my commitment to medicine grew stronger. The crisis reminded me of why I chose this path, to care, to heal, and to serve. This degree was not earned alone. Behind this robe and beneath this smile is a heart filled with gratitude,” he wrote.
