KNEC ANNOUNCES NEW EXAM RULES FOR 2025 KPSEA AND KJSEA

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has introduced fresh rules for the 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), changing how candidates will record their answers.
In the new guidelines, learners will now be required to shade circles on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets instead of drawing lines, as has been the case in previous years. KNEC says the adjustment is aimed at improving accuracy in marking and aligning assessments with global standards.
To help learners and schools adapt to the new system, KNEC has uploaded sample papers, OMR sheets, and cover pages on the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) Portal. The resources, available since January 2025, can be accessed under the Grade 6 (KPSEA) and Grade 9 (KJSEA) sections.
School heads have been urged to download and familiarize candidates with the materials ahead of the national assessments. KNEC also reminded teachers and administrators to maintain strict confidentiality of portal login details.
The 2025 KPSEA and KJSEA exams are scheduled for later in the year, with the council expressing confidence that the reforms will ensure greater efficiency and fairness in the evaluation process.
