KOIMBURI MEDICAL RECORDS RELEASED

The court has authorized the police to access the medical records of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi from two hospitals following allegations of his abduction and torture. Senior Principal Magistrate Millimani Court Robin Ondieki ordered the Karen Hospital and Plainsview Hospital Ruiru Branch to supply the MP’S records in relation to torture claims. This comes after failed attempts by police to access the MP at the Karen Hospital. The issue has elicited a lot of anxiety among the general public as questions continues to swirl whether the incident was politically orchestrated.

Earlier on the lead investigator Chief Inspector Nicholas Njoroge told the court that the alleged abduction appeared staged and might have been orchestrated with “intent to murder’’ or mislead law enforcement. He also cited the lack of clarity around Koimburi’s motive considering that the MP had previously evaded arrest during a public event and has since remained elusive. According to police documents the report of Koimburi’s disappearance was filled by Kiratu at Mugutha Police Station, where he claimed the MP was taken by two masked men in a Subaru Forester shortly after a church service.

Following his hospital admission, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua alleged that Koimburi was abducted and tortured by professionals, claiming police involvement. Gachagua stated that doctors confirmed Koimburi suffered soft tissue injuries and had been injected with a chemical that impaired his speech adding that Koimburi, unable to speak, communicated through writing indicating that the chemical affected his vocal chords.
