The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a new feature on its iTax platform allowing individual taxpayers to log in using their National Identity Card (ID) numbers.
Previously, users could only access the system using their Personal Identification Number (PIN). The latest development is aimed at simplifying the login process and enhancing convenience for individual taxpayers.
“KRA is committed to improving taxpayer experience. By enabling ID login, we are making it easier for Kenyans to access tax services,” the authority said in a statement released on Monday August 4, 2025.
According to KRA, the new option will coexist with the PIN login, giving users the flexibility to choose either method. However, the feature is only available to individuals whose ID numbers are already linked to their iTax accounts.
To access the system using an ID, users must ensure their mobile numbers are updated, as authentication may involve OTP verification.
This move is part of KRA’s broader efforts to digitize services and enhance voluntary tax compliance.
For assistance, taxpayers are advised to contact the KRA Contact Centre or visit the nearest Huduma Centre.
