MATIANG'I A THREAT IN THE OPPOSITION?, WIPER

Former CS for Interior, Dr. Fred Matiang’i's return on Thursday night has surprisingly sparked negative reactions in the opposition camp, particularly in Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Party.

Following His debut , are political moves aimed at popularizing him across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Allegedly the Wiper Party, headed by Kalonzo is unhappy with efforts by Jubilee to endorse and sell Matiang’i to Kenyans.

Some Wiper leaders , such as Machakos' deputy governor, Francis Mwangangi have claimed that the Jubilee Party, led by the Secretary General and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, are undermining other opposition figures by imposing Matiang'i on Kenyans.

Mwangangi voiced his concern terming Matiang'i as Uhuru Kenyatta's political project and he is doomed to fail just as other political projects.

“This country is allergic to political projects. It failed Uhuru in 2002, and Matiang’i must be ready to be a team player,” he said.

The Deputy Governor continued , explaining that they prefer presidential candidates who have been in the political landscape for sometime, and are also self driven.

“Matiang’i is being promoted because of his past role in Uhuru’s government."

“But it's only fair for leaders to rise step-by-step—maybe start as an MCA, MP, Senator, or Governor before going for the presidency," he added.

These remarks seems to signify an elevation of competition from the opposition with the government to the opposition to the opposition. As this sets in, Kenya is yet to see how the opposition will settle their political interests, and endorse the best candidate to face President Ruto come 2027.
