Residents of Katine, Matungulu Constituency, Machakos County, are mourning the tragic loss of middle aged man who was swept away by the strong raging waters of River Katine last night.
According to area Sub-Chief Ancent Musembi, Mutunga was with a friend when they attempted to cross a nearby bridge to get home. Unfortunately, the raging waters overpowered him, dragging him downstream. His friend managed to escape and raised the alarm.
Early this afternoon, his body was retrieved by officers from *Tala Police Station* with the help of local residents. It has since been taken to Part Judy Morgue in Nguluni as investigations continue.
Sub-Chief Musembi has urged residents to exercise caution, especially during heavy rains, to avoid such tragedies.
