MOHAMMED ALI THREATENS TO DITCH RUTO'S CAMP

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has threatened to leave UDA, accusing party officials of betrayal and undemocratic operations.

He narrowed down to the UDA secretary general, Hassan Omar, claiming that he is manipulating UDA grassroots elections by imposing his most preferred candidates on the people.

"The party’s secretary general wants to hijack the democracy of the people of Mombasa by handpicking his own people for various positions. The secretary general is treating this election as a mere formality because he already has a list of his preferred individuals, which he intends to push through. He does not want to allow the proper democratic process. He is denying others the opportunity to participate freely. He wants to impose his people in every constituency, from the ward level all the way to the top," Ali said.

In a video on Thursday, April 10, Ali announced his withdrawal from the forthcoming, Saturday, April 12, Mombasa grassroot elections, and also warned of exiting the party if this issue is not tackled effectively

"We officially withdraw. We will not participate, and we will meet you at the time ordained by God. On that day, we will ask each other questions. We will hand over the party to you, but we will come back with the people. And when we face you, we will face you with the people, and we will ask you many questions," the Law Maker added.

"If you have decided to ruin this party, then we will not be among those destroying it, we will leave it to you to ruin properly. We will not participate," he declared withdrawal from UDA if his demands will not be addressed.

Ali furthered that he was not desperate reminding that he won his position as an independent candidate.

"We have many options on the table. Let no one think that leaving a party means you are finished. I was once in ODM, I left ODM, ran as an independent, and I won the election. People are not interested in political parties; people are interested in what you do for them," Nyali Mp declared.
