Absa Bank Kenya PLC has announced the appointment of seasoned legal and governance expert Mohammed Nyaoga as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective August 1, 2025.
In a notice dated July 9, the bank confirmed the appointment, citing Mr. Nyaoga’s extensive experience in law, finance, and corporate governance. He brings more than four decades of leadership in both public and private sectors, having previously served as Chairman of the Central Bank of Kenya and held board positions with several key financial institutions including the Capital Markets Authority and Ecobank Kenya.
Mr. Nyaoga currently chairs the African Development Bank Group’s Disclosure and Access to Information Appeals Panel and serves as a senior partner at Mohammed Muigai LLP.
Absa said his appointment is expected to enhance board oversight, regulatory alignment, and long-term strategic direction.
The bank continues to strengthen its leadership as part of its growth and governance transformation agenda in Kenya’s competitive banking sector.
