James Gakuya , Embakasi North law maker has accused former Prime Minister ,Raila Odinga of double dealing by positioning himself as both an opposition image and a major player in President Ruto's administration.
Hosted on a local media station on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Gakuya stated that Raila’s ODM-UDA pact poses a controversy in the parliamentary standing orders, Gakuya maintained that Raila cannot allege to hold the minority wing in the National Assembly while yielding from state appointments.
“There is no way you can have one leg inside and the other outside. You must be in one position at a time. Raila should just leave his position in the chamber of the minority because he is no longer in opposition—he is already in bed with the government,” The law maker reiterated.
Mp Gakuya furthered that the former prime minister’s effect in the Kenya Kwanza government is evident by the benefits ODM has got from Cabinet and Principal Secretaries appointments to leadership positions in the National Assembly.
“You can’t be the minority leader while holding government positions at the same time. The standing orders do not allow this—it is illegal,” Gakuya retorted.
The law maker further asserted that Raila should stop fooling Kenyans by the claim that he is still in opposition yet gaining from government privileges. He should just admit that he is part of the Kenya Kwanza government.
