MP SUDI; I DIDN'T GO TO SCHOOL

Kapseret Law Maker , Oscar Sudi has admitted a bold stance on his academic credentials, just a year after being exonerated in a case concerning the legitimacy of his KCSE certificate.

During a public gathering, the legislator revealed that he never attended school, leaving his audience in laughter.

“You have heard people say that I did not go to school; do you think those people are lying? Have you ever heard me claim anywhere that I went to school? But when you come to my constituency, I have worked because of my experience," he said.

He went on contrasting between himself and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah, who attended Alliance High School.

"MP Kimani Ichung’wah is among people who were lucky and got a chance to go to school, but some of us didn’t go to school,” he furthered.

Back in 2015, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigated Sudi's academic qualifications referring to allegations that he had submitted forged documents to the IEBC during his 2013 Kapsaret MP bid.

According to EACC Sudi's KCSE certificate and diploma in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) were allegedly false.

Later on , in 2016, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) charged Sudi with forgery, and a false statutory declaration.

The MP petitioned to impede the prosecution, stating a violation of his rights, but the High Court denied him hearing in 2018. He further went to the Court of Appeal refuting the prosecution but his appeal was dismissed.

His trial attracted 14 witnesses who revealed that Sudi's name neither appeared in the School's 2006 KCSE nor in the diploma certificate, infact the admission number belonged to someone else.

However, in june 7, 2024, Chief Magistrate Felix Kombo vindicated Sudi , ruling that the evidence failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt and they were also improperly obtained.
