Natembeya Takes Over Leadership of DAP-K

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has officially taken over the leadership of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), following a resolution by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).

The Council emphasized that the change was not a coup but a structured and unanimous decision aimed at restoring the party’s vision and direction. Youth League Chairperson Masika Wangasa said the takeover reflects the will of the party’s leadership and membership.

“This was not about ousting anyone. It was about setting a new direction for the party, and Governor Natembeya emerged as the natural choice,” said Wangasa.

The party’s liberal youth wing, led by Wangasa alongside Hammer Hammer, Dean Frank, Nickson Cheroben Kutere, Sam Endambo, and Gerald Bwisa, has thrown its full support behind Natembeya, describing the transition as necessary and overdue.

“This change is what the party needed. We stand with the NEC’s decision because we believe Natembeya represents the ideals of transparency, service, and national appeal,” Wangasa added.

The youth wing, considered a crucial pillar in the party’s grassroots mobilization and liberal identity, has pledged to work closely with the new leadership to rebuild DAP-K’s presence across the country.
