NPS Reassures Public of National Security Amid Gachagua’s Concerns

The National Police Service (NPS) has addressed concerns raised in a letter allegedly authored by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regarding the lack of police security.

In a press statement issued by NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, the Inspector General of Police reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to safeguarding national security and ensuring the safety of all Kenyans, residents, and visitors. The statement advised Hon. Gachagua to liaise with police officers should he require additional security and to inform the police of his movements to enable proper planning.

The NPS emphasized its constitutional mandate under Article 244(c) to uphold human rights and serve all individuals impartially and without political bias. It also reassured the public that the nationwide security situation remains stable, citing the deployment of proactive and intelligence-led measures to deter criminal activities.

“As a Service, we remain apolitical and steadfast,” the statement read, reiterating the NPS's dedication to law, order, and human rights.
