The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is mourning the death of two of its long-serving members, including a close friend of party leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement released on Monday July 21, 2025, ODM paid tribute to Mzee Shadrack Arap Siele, a veteran party stalwart and a trusted confidant of Raila Odinga. Mzee Siele was described as a “familiar face at Chungwa House” and a respected community leader in the South Rift and Kericho regions.
“A good soul has flown away… An old and trusted friend of the party leader, Raila Odinga. RIP Mzee Siele,” read the tribute from ODM.
The party also announced the passing of Mama Everlyne Cheluget, a founding and life member from Uasin Gishu County. She was hailed as a dedicated and loving figure who remained active in party affairs until just days before her death.
“She was a gem, a loving and caring mother, and remained active until last week,” the statement added.
ODM expressed deep sorrow over the loss, noting the vital roles the two played in shaping the party's foundation and growth. The party has not disclosed the cause of their deaths but promised to honor their memory and contributions.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements are expected in the coming days.
