ODM VOWS MORE SEATS

The Orange Democratic Movement party has vowed to ensure it takes all the seats it has fielded a candidate in the upcoming by-elections.

Speaking during the party's 20th-anniversary celebrations, ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga said the party is resolved to ensure MCA elections in Turkana, Samburu, Nyamira, Narok and Garissa are secured by the party's candidates.
"I would like to call upon us to hold hands and add more chairs to the table," Wanga said.

"In 2022 we had 473 MCAs and for us to keep these numbers, we need to keep a strong party and that is why we are talking about how do we get to 600 MCAs in 2027. That is the muscle that we need to drive and it starts with the by-elections."
The party is gearing up for the much-anticipated mini polls set for November 27, 2025.

Wanga, also Homa Bay Governor, indicated that the party prides itself on leaving it's mark on the politics of Kenya having dominated political representation in some of the regions in the country.
"We are marking 20 years of resilience, growth and political stability that has nurtured young politicians into political giants and also built a strong political institution that has been expanding by the day," she stated.

Wanga also intimated that the party is to launch the Raila Odinga Academy of Leadership during the party's youth event in Mombasa.

"We are going to start it so that we will have a real academy which will churn out even more leaders," she added.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is set to conduct 24 by-elections and each political party willing to participate has been requested to submit the names before Wednesday, September 17.
