OUTRAGE AS UON STUDENTS STORM PARLIAMENT OVER DELAYED EXAM RESULTS

University of Nairobi students have stormed Parliament in protest over delayed examination results, sparking public outrage and calls for urgent government intervention.
Final-year Bachelor of Pharmacy students, who completed their exams on March 7, 2025, say they only received their results last week—far too late to qualify for the 2025/2026 internship placements required to complete their studies.
The affected students have filed a formal petition to Parliament, citing violation of their constitutional rights to education and equal opportunity. The delay has left many stranded as peers from other faculties, such as Dental Surgery, have already secured internships after receiving their results on time.
"We studied under the same conditions, completed our exams in March, but while some students are already interning, we are still fighting to be seen," said one Pharmacy student during the protest.
Members of Parliament, led by the Chair of the Departmental Committee on Education Eve Obara, condemned the delay as negligent and damaging to students' futures. MPs Clive Gisairo and Rebecca Tonkei urged immediate intervention from the Ministry of Health to secure internship placements for the affected students.
The committee has pledged to hold the University of Nairobi management accountable and is working closely with the relevant ministries to ensure that the students are not locked out of professional training opportunities due to administrative failures.
The university is yet to issue a public statement addressing the matter.
