President William Ruto has unveiled an unprecedented financial reward package to motivate Harambee Stars in their 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign.
Speaking during a breakfast meeting with the team ahead of their opening match against DR Congo, Ruto pledged KSh1 million for every win and KSh500,000 for every draw. The incentives escalate with tournament progress — KSh60 million for reaching the quarter-finals, KSh70 million for the semi-finals, and a staggering KSh600 million if Kenya lifts the CHAN trophy.
“This is your time to make history,” Ruto told the players, urging them to give their best on home soil as Kenya co-hosts the tournament.
True to his word, following Harambee Stars’ 1-0 victory over DR Congo, Ruto awarded KSh1 million each to all 27 players and 15 members of the technical bench, totaling KSh42 million in payouts.
The incentives are the most lucrative in the history of Kenyan football and come as the national team seeks to advance deep into the tournament and inspire a new generation of fans.
