President William Ruto has donated Ksh 1 million to the family of the late Boniface Kariuki, the young man who was fatally shot in the head by police during recent protests.
The donation was delivered by Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina during a condolence visit to the grieving family.
“This is from President Ruto himself – to stand with you during this difficult moment,” she said as she handed over the support.
Kariuki’s death sent shockwaves across Murang’a and the country, with many describing him as peaceful and full of potential. His killing sparked outrage and emotional tributes online and offline.
The president’s gesture comes amid growing pressure on the government over the handling of demonstrators.
Plans for the burial are underway, with the family calling for continued prayers, unity, and justice.
Boniface will be laid to rest on July 11
