Kiambu County, Kenya — Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi is fighting for his life after being found badly injured and dumped in a coffee farm, just hours after a dramatic abduction in broad daylight.
The outspoken UDA legislator, a close ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, was discovered in critical condition on Sunday evening, May 25, and rushed to Plainsview Hospital near Ruiru.
According to eyewitnesses, Koimburi was seized outside the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha while accompanied by his wife, Anne Koimburi. Two unidentified men accosted the MP, forced him into a Subaru Forester, and sped off. His wife sustained injuries as she tried to intervene.
“They started hitting me from outside, and I felt like my arm was broken. I had no choice but to let go of my husband,” she recounted tearfully.
This shocking incident follows a dramatic escape just two days earlier, on May 23, when Koimburi fled an attempted arrest at Gachororo Primary School. The MP abandoned his vehicle and escaped on a motorcycle. His driver was later detained and questioned at the DCI headquarters before being released.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any involvement in the MP’s abduction but confirmed Koimburi is under investigation for alleged land fraud and possible misappropriation of Constituency Development Funds.
As the MP receives treatment, questions are mounting about who was behind the brazen attack — and why.
