TIKTOKER KAKAN MAIYO RELEASED ON KSH 10,000 BOND AFTER DCI ARREST

Nairobi-based TikToker and businessman Godfrey Mwasiaga, popularly known as Kakan Maiyo, has been released on a Ksh 10,000 police bond following his dramatic arrest earlier this week by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Maiyo, who runs LetaPeleka Logistics at Kimathi House, was arrested on Tuesday, July 9, over a viral TikTok video in which he allegedly incited violence against police officers and their families. The video reportedly contained remarks deemed to threaten national security and public order.
DCI detectives stormed his office in Nairobi’s Central Business District, taking him into custody for interrogation. He was held briefly as investigations continued.
Following public attention on the case, Maiyo was released on bond on Thursday morning. Authorities confirmed that he is expected to appear in court soon, where formal charges of incitement to violence may be filed against him.
Neither Maiyo nor his legal team have issued a public statement, but the arrest has sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters defending his freedom of expression and critics condemning the alleged incitement.
The DCI has since issued a warning to content creators, urging them to remain responsible in their online communications.
