TRAFFIC RESTORED ON NAKURU-ELDORET AFTER SINKHOLE REPAIRS

Traffic flow has resumed on the Nakuru–Eldoret highway after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) completed emergency repairs at the Eveready Roundabout, where a sinkhole had disrupted movement on September 3, 2025, evening.
The sinkhole, which appeared on the Nakuru-bound carriageway, forced the closure of the busy section of the A8 road and left motorists stranded as authorities diverted traffic. KeNHA engineers worked overnight to restore the road and assured the public that it is now safe for use.
In a statement on Thursday, September 4, KeNHA confirmed that both lanes had been reopened, adding that monitoring of the affected area would continue to avert future risks. The authority said it was keeping close watch on the upstream pyroduct, a geological feature linked to sinkhole formation in the area.
Motorists have been urged to proceed with caution and adhere to traffic marshals’ directions as the agency continues monitoring.
The Nakuru–Eldoret highway is one of the country’s busiest transport corridors, linking Nairobi to western Kenya and Uganda.
