Two men have been arraigned in Eldoret for allegedly attacking and robbing Citizen TV journalist Steve Shitera of media equipment and cash at Kamukunji West market.
The suspects, Geoffrey Wanjala and Andrew Ng’ang’a, appeared before Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Kein Odhiambo, where they denied the charges.
According to the charge sheet, the duo is accused of assaulting Shitera on August 29, 2025, and stealing a camera, laptop, and other equipment, together with KSh300,000, all valued at more than KSh712,000.
They are also accused of robbing Raphex Oyugi of a mobile phone and KSh80,000 in cash, valued at KSh142,000.
The prosecution, led by Brian Kiama, opposed lenient bond terms, citing the gravity of the offences, which fall under capital crimes.
The case will be mentioned on September 15, 2025.
