UDA MP LAUDS SHOOT IN THE LEG TO SHOOT AND KILL !

Belgut MP Nelson Koech has made chilling statements urging the police to use lethal force against violent protestors, saying officers should “shoot to kill” when their lives are at risk.

While addressing residents in Chebirbei, Kericho County on Wednesday, Koech argued that police officers should not hesitate to “shoot to kill” if their lives are under threat.

The legislator, who chairs the National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee, expressed strong support for President Ruto’s earlier directive encouraging officers to aim at demonstrators’ legs, but said the order didn’t go far enough.

“I want to thank President Ruto. Yesterday, the moment you said ‘shoot but do not kill,’ I want to repeat it here—in fact, shoot and kill!” Koech declared.

He justified the call for extreme force by citing rising concerns over property destruction and fatalities allegedly caused by violent individuals who have hijacked recent anti-government protests.

“You can’t have someone coming after your life and you don’t want to shoot and kill, you can’t have someone who is going to terrorize you and your family, and you are telling me you can’t shoot and kill, you can’t have someone who is coming after your businesses armed and with weapons and you can’t use shoot and kill,” he emphasized.

Koech referenced the Constitution and the National Police Service Act, saying both provide guidelines that permit officers to use firearms if they face real danger during operations.

“The Constitution, the police act has given police the powers to use their arms where they have evaluated the risks and that their lives is in danger,” he said, citing provisions under the sixth schedule.

He also warned that any attempt to breach protected areas like State House would be treated as a criminal act deserving the harshest response.

“These people have been terrorizing people. Anyone who wants to a protected area like State House is not an ordinary person, that is a criminal, that is an armed person that must be dealt with, with equal force and the only force that applies to such people is to shoot and kill,” he said.

Koech rejected accusations that the government is behind acts of destruction seen during protests, saying those making such claims shouldn’t oppose law enforcement taking action.

“If you think that the government is sending goons and arsons to attack people’s property and investment, why do you have a problem when the government goes after all these people they’ve sent, as you claim,” he posed.

According to Koech, individuals behind acts of violence will face serious charges, including terrorism or incitement to terrorism, due to the destruction and loss of life linked to their actions.

“We will arrest everyone and I can tell you they are terrorists. They’re going to be charged as either facilitating terrorism or they’re terrorists themselves,” he said.

The MP muttering in rage further declared that President Ruto's reign is here to stay upto the end of his two terms as his predecessors.

He closed by warning political players and protest leaders that the Kenya Kwanza administration will not allow the country to slide into chaos.

“This country’s blood has been shed enough times and we want to warn all those who want to orchestrate violence in our nation that we will not allow the temptation to join your chorus,” Koech stated.
